WHAT IS A B'NAI MITZVAH?

A B'nai Mitzvah is a Jewish coming-of-age ceremony for a girl and boy, typically celebrated when the girl and boy turn 12 and/or 13. During the ceremony, the mitzvah celebrants are recognized as full members of the Jewish community and take on new responsibilities, including participating in religious services, reading from the Torah, and observing Jewish laws and traditions. It's a significant milestone in a Jewish teen's life.

SERVICE INFORMATION

- dressing modestly as one might for a church or other religious service
- being quiet and attentive while observing the service
- refraining from using cell phones and cameras inside the service area
- following specific customs requested
- men and boys over the age of 13 will be requested to cover their heads with a Kippot (skullcaps will be provided)
- everyone will be asked to stand during certain portions of the service
